Nominations for the 2024 ATHENA Leadership Awards now accepted

WAUSAU — The Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the organization’s annual ATHENA Leadership Award and ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

Those who would like to nominate an individual must complete the online nomination form at SurveyMonkey.com/r/W8YLCLY by 3 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Self-nominations are allowed. Eligible nominees will be contacted to complete an application at the end of the nomination period. Those who are selected as finalists will be recognized at the ATHENA Leadership Award program on November 21, where the award recipients will be announced.

The ATHENA Leadership Award and the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award are presented to women or men who are honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills.

These awards will be presented at the ATHENA Leadership Award Program at the Holiday Inn & Suites in Rothschild at noon on Thursday, November 21. Those interested in attending can register for the program on WausauChamber.com.

Amber Gober, Branch Manager at Peoples State Bank, was named the recipient of the 2023 ATHENA Leadership Award. Jessica Scharfenberg, CEO at HealthFirst Network Inc in Wausau, was named the recipient of the 2023 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

“We have so many generous, innovative and passionate women within the Wausau area,” said Gober. “What an inspiration they all are to me! Our community is lucky to have each and every one of them.”
