We perform complete services from engineering and fabrication of entrance doors, storefronts, curtainwalls, vestibules, glass railings, and shower doors. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of a glass estimator typically revolve around accurately assessing the costs and materials required for commercial glass projects. The following is a breakdown of what a role typically involves:
- Analyze architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to understand the scope and requirements of the glass installation or replacement project.
- Calculate the quantities of glass, framing, sealants, and other materials needed based on project specifications.
- Utilize estimating software and historical data to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Conduct site visits to assess site conditions, measurements, and any potential challenges that could impact the project.
- Develop detailed bid proposals outlining the scope of work, pricing, project schedule, and terms and conditions.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and address any issues or changes.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide project updates, and address any concerns throughout the estimation process.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Keep detailed records of estimates, bids, contracts, change orders, and correspondence related to each project.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience as a glass estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry is often required, with knowledge of glass products, glazing techniques, and construction practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret technical drawings and to make accurate estimates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal team members.
