Let’s Go Fishing is Coming to Wausau Soon

WAUSAU - The Hodag Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing, located in Rhinelander, is establishing a sister chapter in Wausau. Let’s Go Fishing is a 501C3 non-profit. The organization serves seniors, Veterans, the disabled and youth by providing fishing and boating excursions on weekdays from mid-May to mid-September each year

“This service that Let’s Go Fishing provides is something that the people we serve would not ordinarily have the opportunity to participate in,” said Mark Schroeder, Chairman of the Hodag Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing. “For many, this gives hope to those suffering from loneliness and depression.”

Two-hour fishing or boating excursions are provided on a fully equipped, wheelchair accessible large tri-toon boat. An online calendar system is utilized by the organization’s volunteers and those they serve to schedule outings.

“Scheduling an outing is very efficient,” said Schroeder. “There are very few steps required to set up time on the lake.”

An informational meeting will be held at the Marathon County Public Library branch in downtown Wausau from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18. The meeting is open to the public and the event is not sponsored by the library.
