Habitat Wausau to Dedicate 78th Home on October 27
Community invited to celebrate affordable homeownership and a partnership with Merrill High School

WAUSAU, Wis. — Habitat for Humanity of Wausau will host an open house and dedication for its 78th home on Tuesday, October 27, at 1609 E Bos Creek Drive in Wausau. The community is invited to tour the completed home from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a short dedication ceremony at 6:00 p.m.

Construction began in September 2025 through a partnership between Merrill High School’s Construction Trades program and Habitat Wausau. Habitat provided the plans, building materials, dwelling contractor license, and construction oversight. The school’s instructor provided the curriculum, instruction, and supervision for the student build.

The partnership gave students hands-on experience in residential construction while helping create an affordable home for a local family. After the student build was complete, the home was transported to its permanent foundation. Habitat Wausau’s volunteer construction team, corporate partners, and community volunteers then worked together to finish the home.

“Home 78 represents more than a completed construction project,” said Tiffany Arnold, Executive Director of Habitat Wausau. “Merrill High School students gained practical skills while helping build a family’s future. Our volunteers, donors, and partners carried that work forward, showing what is possible when a community comes together to create affordable housing.”

Habitat Wausau partner families complete 300 hours of sweat equity and purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage. This approach helps families build financial stability and invest in their future while contributing to the community.

Neighbors, donors, supporters, volunteers, and community members are welcome to attend and celebrate this milestone.
