Continuous Improvement Specialist I Description & Duties:

The Continuous Improvement Specialist I assists the Continuous Improvement Manager in continuous improvement initiatives by working in various capacities to help design, develop and implement data-driven change and solutions to increase performance and efficiency while reducing waste, ensuring compliance, meeting stakeholder and business needs.

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Identify potential targets for continuous improvement projects.
  • Organize, facilitate and execute effective Gemba Walks and other observations of subject matter experts for the continuous improvement team and departmental leadership.
  • Understand, apply and execute Lean-based strategies, methods and improvements to assigned projects and daily work.
  • Create clear and accurate Process Maps of current and future process states.
  • Manage 3M level projects (simple process improvements).
  • Understand and apply root cause analytics and tools (with support).
  • Monitor process performance and improvements in key metrics. 
  • Support the development of a “CI-culture” at Foundation Finance Company.
  • Discuss tools, DMAIC methodology and other CI-based terms and techniques intelligently with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
  • Other duties as assigned. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; One year of process improvement experience using process improvement methodology OR combination of education and experience. Experience in operations monitoring and/or finance sector preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a minimum of intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet browsers such as Google Chrome.

  • Understanding of basic programming concepts, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau.   

  • Yellow Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma or proven equivalent experience. AGILE certification is preferred.
