Position Description

The Business Development & Sales Manager is a redesigned sales role created to expand the Chamber’s revenue capacity. As the Chamber’s primary revenue‑generating and relationship‑building professional, this position drives growth through membership sales, sponsorship sales, and strategic partnerships. This is a full, direct sales role requiring active outreach, consistent prospecting, tailored pitching, and closing with both new and existing businesses. The work is strategic, fast-paced, and highly community‑facing, centered on cultivating strong relationships, identifying business needs and aligning Chamber solutions to provide value. This person will be highly visible across the region and spend most of their time outside the office meeting with businesses, building connections, and generating new opportunities for the Chamber. This role offers the potential for future leadership opportunities based on performance and organizational needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan that drives revenue growth.
  • Responsible for all membership and sponsorship sales for the organization.
  • Manage the full sales cycle: lead generation → outreach → pitch → close → hand‑off → follow‑up.
  • Renew, upsell, and expand member and sponsor relationships.
  • Deliver tailored presentations aligned with business needs.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison to ensure members maximize Chamber value.
  • Partner with Marketing and Events to design sponsorship deliverables and ensure they are fulfilled..
  • Strengthen member and sponsor engagement through ongoing outreach.
  • Represent the organization through attendance at all Chamber activities with the purpose of strengthening relationships with members. obtaining leads, making connections, and increasing visibility.
  • Coordinate major investor meetings with the President/CEO.
  • Manage pipeline and CRM from lead → close → fulfillment.
  • Maintain accurate sales and engagement documentation in CRM.
  • Manage assigned budget items by tracking performance and reporting progress toward revenue goals.
  • Uphold the Chamber’s credibility, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Provide team support as needed to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of successful sales experience, ideally selling intangible services.
  • Strong prospecting, cold calling, pipeline management, pitching, and closing skills.
  • Resilient and able to handle rejection professionally.
  • Excellent customer service, relationship‑building, and communication skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking abilities with a polished professional presence.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Self‑starter who works independently and collaborates well with a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities; adaptable to change.
  • Knowledge of the local business community or willingness to develop it.
  • Comfortable in a technology‑driven environment.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance.
  • Dependable and punctual.

Compensation

Base salary is experience‑based, with a minimum of $45,000, plus commission on new membership sales, upsells and sponsorship sales, plus performance‑based bonuses. This role also includes a three‑month guaranteed commission period to support early ramp‑up. Total earning potential could exceed $75,000+ depending on performance.
