Friday, August 22, 2025 (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

History is Fun! That is definitely the case at our annual Kid’s History Day Friday, August 22 from 9 AM-3 PM. Hosted by the Marathon County Historical Society (MCHS), we will explore “History through the Decades” From orange shag rug to poodle skirts, we will experience the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with fun and interactive activities including touring an historic home, model trains, learning the hustle, visiting downtown locations and much more. Kid’s History Day is designed for elementary and middle school students, ages 7-13. We create our programs with something for every age splitting the group at some points to provide at least two different age-appropriate activities. We’ll provide snacks and all supplies for the day. Children must bring a cold lunch, water bottle, weather appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes. They can be dropped off at the Woodson History Center (410 McIndoe Street Wausau) starting at 9 am but no later than 9:15 am. Lunch is approximately noon. The event ends at 3 pm and children must be picked up at the Woodson History Center before 3:30 pm. Reserve your spot at $10/child by visiting https://www.ticketsource.com/mchstickets. Please fill out a registration form and return to the Marathon County Historical Society (410 McIndoe St. Wausau, WI 54403) by no later than Friday, Aug 15th to guarantee a spot, as space is limited to 30 participants.
