May 9 - Natural Cordage Program led by Sean Sullivan (Sean the Mammoth Hunter). Cordage (string) from Natural Materials: String is readily available in the modern world, but prehistoric people had to make what they needed from natural materials in their environment. We will look at some of the artifact reproductions that relate to the production, and use of cordage. Students will then learn the properties of good fiber plants, and several local species that fiber can be harvested from. We will cover methods of processing fiber from different species. Students will then make a length of cordage while learning to twine processed fiber. May 23 - Garden Bouquet in Ink and Watercolor Program led by Nancy Laliberte. Join celebrated local watercolor artist, Nancy Laliberte, for an evening of painting in the Gardens. Each guest will receive a small arrangement of flowers from the Gardens to use as inspiration for their 8x10” watercolor painting. All materials provided. These events are all outdoors, please dress for the weather. Registration for each workshop closes the morning beforehand so we can gather materials, please plan accordingly. *NEW- HOP KIDS!
