Wausau Kayak / Canoe Corporation is the guiding organization for Wausau Whitewater Park. The whitewater course is used for world-class athlete training and competitions, youth and adult whitewater skills camps, recreational paddling, citizen competitions, and swift-water rescue classes for local fire departments. Last year WKCC provided recreational opportunities for over 2,500 kayakers, canoeists and spectators. In addition, our training camps promoted adventure opportunities for youth and adults throughout the nation and our swift-water rescue course equipped 6 firefighters and rescue personnel representing 3 fire or sheriff?s departments with life-saving rescue techniques as well as an additional 8 students. The Swiftwater Rescue Training Clinics have trained a total of 40 rescue personnel from 8 departments throughout Wisconsin. WKCC?s vision for the future is to remain an integral and vital face t to Wausau?s downtown and this community?s continuing success.
