WAUSAU – REI Engineering, Inc. (REI) has welcomed two new members to its team of professionals.  Gillian Egle, Engineering Designer and Kurt Schmidt, REI’s first Landscape Designer both joined REI’s Team.

Gillian’s was an intern with the WDNR and oversaw a team on a streamflow project where she ensured proper collection of streamflow data at baseflow conditions at multiple streams on a monthly basis.  This experience exposed her to state and federal standards and provided knowledge of how regulations affect project planning, which is key in the Civil Design world.  Gillian is a May 2022 graduate from UW-Eau Claire and earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Comprehensive Geology and Hydrogeology emphasis of Water Chemistry.

Kurt’s experience in the field of Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Planning has been diverse as he has played pivotal roles on teams that have helped shape communities and outdoor environments throughout the Midwest from your smallest public park to your largest mixed-use development or residential neighborhood. The emphasis throughout his career has been focused on the creative design process, concept development, site functionality and how to communicate an idea successfully through graphic production with the overall goal of having a positive impact on the connection of people and environment. Some of Kurt’s specific responsibilities at REI will include internal team collaboration, concept plan development, site design, detailed landscape design, development planning, proposal development, client/regulatory communication, and project scoping.  Kurt is a graduate of UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture and Certificate in Environmental Studies.
